Tell me about your The Beginning!

We met on Hinge! The supreme dating app as we now call it. On January 9th 2022. We’d both almost given up hope before we came across each other. We spoke on the app only for a day or 2 before Ryan eagerly asked for the first date which we had on Thursday January 13th at Edge, Geelong for a coffee. We both instantly felt the connection and now both say we realise now that was the feeling of just knowing we’d found the right person. From the moment we met we swear we’ve seen each other or known each other before, Jess even saying she thought she walked past Ryan on a walk at Barwon Heads a few weeks earlier.. but Ryan wasn’t in Barwon Heads on that date… we narrow it down to fate and the fact that we must have dreamed each other into life. The connection was instant, we were both definitely attracted, felt comfortable and laughed most of the date. As he went to pay Ryan dropped his phone but picked it up and joked ‘its all good’… it was not good and he then spent a few hours at Telstra trying to get him phone fixed as he needed to follow up to say what a great time he had and ask for a second date.. which when he did was eagerly agreed to by Jess. The second date was a walk at Barwon Heads, the third Fish and Chips on the beach at Ocean Grove, and the first kiss at Point Lonsdale lighthouse. The fourth date Ryan took Jess out for dinner at Fisherman’s Pier (A place where we would later go back to celebrate our engagement. From there dinners were cooked for each other, and the rest as they say is history. We always knew we were meant for each other and our love and connection just grew everyday and we moved in together December 2022 after staying back and fourth between Jess’s house in Geelong and Ryan’s in Ballarat. Now residing in Geelong with our fur-baby Bella 🙂

When and where did you get engaged?

We got engaged October 29th 2022 (yes 10 months after meeting, when you know you know!) Ryan covered the planning really well until we were actually driving out. He organised for Jess to get her nails done in the morning and even cleverly made her think it was her idea. Then said get dressed up I’m taking you out for dinner to a clients new restaurant, it hadn’t opened before that day. On the drive out there Ryan then told Jess about this great restaurant he was taking her too… a friend and it’s been opened a couple of weeks…. the pieces started to fall into place in Jess’s mind. We pulled up at the Point Lonsdale lighthouse (where we had our first kiss back in January) It was raining.. so Ryan’s conversation was the most awkward and forced it had ever been! haha, the first date was better than that! Finally we got out and walked up to the lgihthouse, looking out over the view, Ryan standing behind Jess cuddling her as she held her coat over her head then tapped her shoulder for her to turn around. There he was on one knee and Jess naturally exclaimed.. ‘What’s happening!?’ hahaha an instant reaction of shock.. Ryan then spoke a beautiful speech before Jess exclaimed ‘YES!’, the ring went on the finger and then lots of embracing. We then stopped off to pop a bottle of champagne with Jess’s Mum who had the heads up (permission was asked for and she was a part of the process with Ryan) and was eagerly awaiting our arrival. Then Ryan took Jess for dinner to Fisherman’s Pier where they had their 4th date back in January.

What style/theme have you chosen for your Wedding Day?

Our style is very simplistic, enjoying the most of the surroundings; beach and the beautiful Dunes venue. So wood, greenery and whites for flowers, décor etc.

What are you most looking forward to on the day?

Becoming Husband and Wife, truly, we cannot wait for that moment and having our relationship go to that next level. Of course seeing each other for the first time, and getting to celebrate our love and marriage with all of our closest friends and family.

Top Tips!

Get organised early, pick your venue so you’ve got that and your date and everything else can be booked in based on that. Go through all different vendors early so you have time to pick your favourite and have them be available. Try to enjoy the planning process and get support if needed e.g. The Dunes Wedding Coordinator has been a god send for us! Try not to feel too impatient for your date like we did 😉 It will all be worth it!
